Editorial Board and Governance

EJSS operates under the scientific direction of its Editor-in-Chief, Editors-in-Chief and Editorial Board. Board members are selected for relevant expertise, academic standing, integrity, international representation and ability to contribute actively to editorial work.

Editorial responsibilities

The editorial leadership is responsible for:

  • defining and periodically reviewing the journal’s aims, scope and policies;
  • maintaining scientific, ethical and editorial standards;
  • appointing qualified reviewers and making independent decisions;
  • managing conflicts of interest and ensuring confidential handling;
  • overseeing corrections, retractions and other record-maintenance actions;
  • monitoring peer-review quality, timeliness and journal performance; and
  • ensuring that journal policies are applied consistently.

Editors serve for defined or periodically reviewed terms determined by the publisher. Membership of the board does not guarantee involvement in every submission and does not confer preferential treatment for an editor’s own work.

Conflict management

An editor must not handle a manuscript when the editor is an author, recent collaborator, supervisor, close institutional colleague, family member, direct competitor or otherwise has an interest that could affect impartiality. Such manuscripts are reassigned to an independent editor. Editorial Board members submitting to EJSS are treated as authors and are excluded from all editorial decisions concerning their manuscripts.

Publisher and editorial independence

FESSS owns and supports EJSS. Scientific decisions are made by the editorial leadership on the basis of validity, importance, originality, clarity and relevance. The publisher does not interfere in the selection, peer review or acceptance of individual manuscripts.

The names, affiliations, roles and ORCID identifiers of current editors should be displayed on the Editorial Board page and reviewed at least annually. Former or inactive members should be removed promptly.
